There are many acoustic guitars on the market these days. The quality and price vary dramatically. When purchasing a new acoustic guitar, there are some tips that you should look out for to make sure you are purchasing a quality instrument:

  • Is the action low? (are the strings close to the fretboard)

  • Are the frets filed down at the ends? (it should feel smooth when you run your finger down the side of the neck)

  • Does the body feel solid? (there should be a bit of weight to the body)

  • Is there any buzz when you play a fret? (there should be no buzz)

Generally speaking, the more money you spend, the better quality instrument you're going to get, but there are some fantastic examples of equipment that is top-quality but won't break the bank!
