RECOMMENDED CLASSICAL GUITAR EQUIPMENT
It can be tricky to find a good classical guitar at an affordable price. The quality and price vary dramatically, as classical guitars can vary from £40 to £16,000! This guide will hopefully help you navigate the minefield.
Full-size, 3/4 size, or 1/2 size?
As a general rule, if the student is in primary school (ages 6-10), go for a 3/4 size; if the student is in secondary school (ages 11+), go for a full size.
A 1/2-sized guitar is very small and suffers from intonation and tuning problems; it is best to avoid them altogether and go for a 3/4 size. A 7/8 size is in-between a 3/4 and a full-sized guitar.
Toby’s Music Lessons recommends The Music Dept in St Albans for being a one-stop shop for all your guitar and bass playing requirements.
